Orientation Training Programme for Newly Recruited Technicians (T1) inaugurated at ICAR RC for NEH Region, Umiam

        The ICAR Research Complex for North Eastern Hill (NEH) Region, Umiam, Meghalaya, inaugurated a five-days Orientation Training Programme (18-22 May 2026) for newly recruited Technicians (T-1) on May 18, 2026. The objective of the programme is to orient the new recruits technical staff toward institutional functioning, professional responsibilities, and emerging developments in agricultural research and extension activities. A total of 52 participants from various divisions, sections, and regional centers of the Institute are attending the training.
        The curriculum of the training is designed to cover the core functioning of Administration, Establishment, Finance, Stores & Purchase, Research, Extension, Laboratory, Farm Management; operating specialized lab equipment and farm machineries, maintaining safety standards, and handling official documentation and reporting for their competency development. Shri G.G. Harakangi, Chief Administrative Officer (Senior Grade) of the institute presented a brief overview of the training schedule and emphasized the crucial role that technical staff have to play in strengthening the research and development (R&D) activities of the Institute. This comprehensive orientation programme is expected to provide a valuable platform for the newly recruited technicians to familiarize themselves with the functioning of ICAR, ultimately strengthening their technical capabilities for effective service delivery in the agricultural sector of the North-Eastern Hill Region.
